  Turning Point of Tampa (TPOT) saved my life. I don't think I would have ever made it to the 12-step rooms without them. I went through their residential and Intensive Outpatient programs. I chose a residential treatment center, TPOT specifically, because I had tried everything else (and failed miserably); their website stated they were 12-step based, which was the last thing I hadn't tried for my substance abuse issues. Almost every single staff member is in recovery. This was crucial to my success. I had to know that the people trying to help me were once suffering as I was because I had lost all trust in myself and other people. I needed to know that my situation was not special. I cannot rave enough about the staff at TPOT. It doesn’t start or end with the therapists. Every single individual that I encountered from TPOT had only one goal in mind – a long-lasting, sustainable recovery for me. That doesn’t mean that it was easy or comfortable. Quite the contrary. It was hard work and very uncomfortable. They didn’t tell me what I wanted to hear, but enveloped me in honesty and integrity. Through a very structured environment focusing on the 12-step principles and group therapy, the veil of denial began to be lifted. I learned so much about myself and who I had become - that this disease is progressive, the primary diagnosis, and will kill me. I also learned that I have to address all aspects of this disease. It was brought to my attention that I also had an eating disorder, and although I was resistant during residential treatment, I finally surrendered to my food addiction as well. I know in my heart of hearts that if this was not diligently worked on with me, I would not have the same recovery I have today. I am forever grateful to TPOT for each and every day that I am clean, sober, and abstinent. It really was the turning point for me.

The therapists Angie and Logan, as well as all those others involved at TPoT, were instrumental in ensuring a seamless transition and continuation of my recovery. They will be forever a part of my fabric and I am grateful to them for my new sober life."
